Overview of the Victoria Falls Bungee Jump
Ultimate thrill-seekers would love the Victoria Falls bungee jump. This jump is one of the most famous in the world and is an epic place to attempt your first bungee. The daring 112-meter plunge is done off the Victoria Falls bridge located along the Zimbabwe-Zambia border. The forceful Zambezi river lies below the bridge as crocodiles await in the water.
What is this free fall towards your near-death like? Here is my experience:
The Build Up
My nerves began to kick in when I went to sign the bungee jump waiver. As I read through the waivers, my rationale side got more nervous and my insane side got more excited.
I put on my harness and made my way to the bridge. A large crowd had gathered as a girl approached the ledge, ready for her jump. I didn’t know if I wanted to watch or not but couldn’t help myself. She took her leap and I cringed as I heard a loud and fading scream. At that moment the intensity of what I was about to do, hit me. I was going to jump off the Victoria Falls bridge.
When the girl returned, she was greeted with hugs and cheers. I was next up and could only hope to step on land again like she had. My number was called and I sprung up ready to get going. I looked around as locals and tourists lined up to watch. What better source of entertainment than to see foolish people like myself jump off a bridge into the crocodile-infested water. I laughed and smiled in an attempt to calm my body and nerves. This was a terrible decision but also an amazing one. It was time to do this. It was time to Bungee of the Victoria Falls Bridge
The Free Fall
My nerves grew as I approached the ledge. My body had never free fallen like this and definitely not from 112-meters. I had no idea how something like that would even feel. The walk to the edge of the floorboard was wobbly as I had tightly wrapped padding around my ankles. Once I got to the edge, I took my first peek down. My stomach tied itself in knots. I could feel the anxious eyes of the people behind me as they tuned into the action. Inhale exhale, inhale exhale; I took a few deep breaths and checked my Go-before signaling that I was read.
I heard the crew shout “5 4 3 2 1 Bungee!” as I was pushed off the edge. My stomach dropped and my brain froze, it didn’t know what was happening. The adrenaline kicked in and I realized my body was free falling. I let out a scream just because I could.
Before I knew it I felt my body bounce. The bounce meant I had made it. A large smile hit my face as adrenaline once again flowed through my bones. Blood rushed to my head but I didn’t care. Hanging off the bridge while seeing the rainbows created by the Victoria Falls was simply amazing. The feeling of surviving this thrill was amazing. Everything felt amazing in a way that is hard to explain.
When I was brought up and set foot on land I felt like a celebrity. Spectators and locals questioned me as if I was in an interview. I struggled to respond as my mind was still partially frozen. All I knew was that I had survived one of the most famous bungee jumps in the world.

The experience was short but probably the most exciting seven seconds of my life. The cost of the jump is pricey when you consider you are paying about $22 a second, but it’s all about quality over quantity! This is one of the biggest adrenaline rushes I have ever felt. The cost was more than worth it for me and I would highly recommend this to anyone who is visiting Victoria Falls.
